Watch Out For Healthy Junk Food!
At this point, you are giving your body what it needs with vegetable smoothies which will help you make healthier choices, NOT BY DIETING, but rather by giving your body what it needs to diminish your junk food cravings. The problem with "so-called health foods" is they're advertising junk food as being good for you. In reality, they don't give your body what it needs. Many of these so-called healthy foods are filled with sugars and toxic chemicals that over time will lead to serious health consequences.
I have never been obese, however, I have had skinny fat. In other words, I looked skinny until I took my shirt off.
So I ate many of the same diet foods you have tried, however, again many of these so-called diet foods are really junk food in disguise. There is a biochemical reason why eating these health foods causes us to gain weight and be unhealthy. We have been conditioned to look at the calories however, not all calories are created equal.
For generations, we have been sold the idea we need meat and dairy for protein, however, as you see in the research below, broccoli has more protein than meat and dairy per calorie. Animal protein contains IGF-1 which the research shows increases your chance of cancer by 400%, and if you are above the age of 55-to-65, meat increases your odds of cancer by 600%.
Just like cigarette companies did in the past, food companies have spent billions of dollars trying to advertise their foods as being good for you. They are actually more addictive because they release dopamine in the brain which are the same chemicals that are released in the brain with cocaine and intercourse.
So these foods can be quite addictive and cause high blood pressure, cancer, and diabetes, among other health issues.
Again, one of the reasons so many diet and fitness programs fail is because it expects people to go cold turkey. So in addition to giving the body what it needs Shakeology which kills your junk food cravings.
So we take things in small incremental stages. You may not be willing and able to make drastic changes in your eating habits all at once but if you make small lifestyle changes like intermittent fasting over time, these small changes will have a big impact on your health. Here are the steps I took in my journey.
Stage #1) I gave up junk food and replaced it with fruit. I had watched a video on Youtube about raw food and I became a fruitarian eating mostly bananas in which I lost 11 lbs. in my first 4 days. This decision wasn't healthy because the natural sugars from the fruit weren't giving me what I needed. However, because I was not giving my body what it needed, I lapsed into my same old bad habits. It is important that when you give one thing up, you should replace it with something else. Hopefully a healthy choice like exercise.
Stage #2) Oats - On a fruitarian diet, I would feel this pit in my stomach even though I was not hungry. Oats seemed to fill this gap. I started off with brown sugar with my oats, then exchanged brown sugar with pudding. I would mix it in with my oatmeal, exchange pudding for honey, and then honey for cinnamon, and finally ate only oats.
I poured my oats into a cup and added water. After some time, I then started adding broccoli and other green leafy vegetables to my diet because broccoli has more protein than steak. I added ranch dressing with the broccoli, then moved from the dressing to hummus, and then finally just broccoli.
In the video, "The End of Dieting – How to prevent disease" by Dr. Joel Furham M.D, he suggests a plant-based diet, and because of IGF-1, he does not endorse the consumption of meat and dairy products. However, no matter what changes you are planning to make in your diet, to reduce your junk food cravings, you have to give your body what it needs. By eating nutrition-rich foods or making them into a vegetable smoothie you can meet this need.
